Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury was published in 1953. The novel presents a future American society where books are outlawed and “firemen” burn any that are found. The book is a dystopian novel, its title used from the temperature at which book paper catches fire and burns.
The book describes life in the future, where technology is at its peak and people are befuddled with big screens. Their jobs have also changed for example firemen instead of putting off fires, light them when there are books in the house. One day Guy Montag who is a fireman meets a seemingly crazy sixteen year old beautiful girl and they take a walk together late at night.
I liked the way that the author describes the tragic conditions and I admired his way of thinking about how life could turn out to be with controlled information. I also enjoyed the detailed descriptions and his imagination for the future of humanity, which is so close to our future too.
It’s a book worth your while. I recommend you to read it, it will change your way of thinking and probably your life cause you will understand how controlled knowledge is able to rule the world and yourself.
